Ladd’s creations for fine homes and commercial interiors for prestigious corporate clients demonstrate great adeptness at working across a myriad of styles.   Eschewing allegiance to any particular aesthetic, Ladd prefers a layered approach to design in which strong architectural gestures and clean, carefully planned spaces serve as an astute backdrop for clients’ collections of art and objects.  Through the skillful manipulation of texture, volume and light, and the deliberate use of color and fine materials, Ladd creates interiors that highlight clients’ most treasured possessions by interpreting them with a fresh and modern sensibility.   This integration of furnishings, artworks and other aesthetic elements from an array of cultures and time periods generates rich and diverse visual narratives that are capable of paying respect to the past, while simultaneously being progressive and timeless. 

Having designed and managed projects of all scales everywhere from Paris to Palm Beach, Santa Fe to Stockbridge, Malibu to Montreal, in addition to countless in New York City and Miami, Ladd’s trademark, tailor-made approach to design quickly cemented his firm, which was founded in 2010, as one of the industry’s finest.  In 2013, Ladd was one of a select group of talented designers invited by Sotheby’s in New York City to participate in its exclusive and highly acclaimed Inaugural Designer Showhouse.  Each designer was asked to create a distinctive interior space that showcased the treasure trove of fine art, furniture and decorative arts offered each season at Sotheby’s. 

Prior to establishing his own firm, Ladd worked with renowned AD 100 interior designer Juan Montoya as director of his New York based firm, Juan Montoya Design.   During his 20 year tenure there, projects were routinely featured in prestigious shelter publications, including Architectural Digest, Interior Design and Florida Design, among others.  Ladd began his professional career in Boston following his studies at L’Universite de Paris III, La Nouvelle Sorbonne, Paris, France (1978-1979), University of California, San Diego (B.A. Fine Arts, 1981), and the Rhode Island School of Design (B.F.A., Architecture and B. Arch, Architecture, 1985).
